New feeds: the weatherchannel, Unshelved, ListenUp! Vermont, The Shifted Librarian, and Kids Lit.  Saving 10-15 seconds per search by using RSS is rather nice! So convenient to have the local weather at my fingertips .

A Google Reader acct was easy to set up and will come in handy when not at home.

Week 3 Thing 7

Write anything about technology that interests me? I’m overwhelmed and my brain hurts. Every one of these 23 things is fascinating, and I find all this information SLOWLY seeping in and out and back in again. Eventually this will become second nature?

Perhaps we should explain our choice of banner picture as none of our volunteers knew what the heck it was.

This past December, the library had a gingerbread creation contest.  This photo is a portion of an entry that was a toaster with 2  gingerbread people (librarians) popping up.  The thingy on the right is an outlet for the toaster plug (not shown).  Can you believe this entry did not win???  Me either.  Might have something to do with disqualification due to employment.

Enjoying a good book

It’s always nice to see learning in progress. This library cat is wonderful to have around. No litterbox duty, no fuzz balls, no scratches, no worries about patrons with allergies.

This papier mache cat was made by one of our after school program children back in 2007.

GRRRRRRR. Loading pictures was easy. When searching for vermontlibrarieslearn tag, we don’t show up at all. Only 9 Goddard College pictures show up. Frustrating. Searched while logged in and out of Flickr to no avail!

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

YAY!! It worked.  Next post will be from the flickr blogging tool :)

Vacation is fast approaching and we’re heading to sunny (foggy) CA.  Had the kids read Al Capone Does My Shirts in preparation for our visit to this national historic site http://www.flickr.com/photos/ofus/103399496/.  Hoping to not become a permanent resident.  Heard the swim to shore can take quite a bite out of ya.

Neighhhhh

Today we rode horses in the library… hobby horses of course! Real ones would make such a mess.

It’s official.  We’re in cyberspace!
