Blechh. Maybe I’m a little blogged out; too many people with too much to say. Searching google blogs tended to gather better results for me, but perhaps it was just the search subject. Top 100 blogs is a cool feature if you’ve got hours to scan through such things. And the top photos and videos. Again, though, where’s the time?

LibraryThing: Finally! Something I know a little about Trying to create a widget so anyone can browse my (outdated) library. Input is time consuming, but it was fun for a while – I’m afraid I’ll go over my 200 book free limit soon though.

Gee, kids don’t want to friend their mothers . . . can you imagine why? I had to change my picture (couldn’t deal with the real me I guess) and haven’t done much with the page at all. I’m finding it all so time consuming, but do see advantages for the library having it’s own page. Maybe we’ll get to it someday. Soonish.

Week 5 Thing 10

O.K., I might have thrown a minor fit about a year ago when I found out both my kids had accounts (facebook and yahoo 360) even though I had said it probably wasn’t a good idea. Which in my mind meant “NO! Some crazy kook will stalk you.” After looking over the pages and reading their (and all their friends) stuff, reading up on social networking, and attending the Teens and Technology workshop, I’ve lightened up.

So much so that I’m actually going to create an account in my own name. Trepidation!! No really, I’m going to do it.

Social software would be great to bring awareness of the library to the community. Seems like it could take a LOT of time though! We’d have to hire another librarian or have a volunteer willing to spend many hours to reach all target groups (children, teens, homeschoolers, moms, the list goes on forever).

Am I frustrated????????
